If “travel bag” means a duffel or soft weekend bag, compare the carrying method first. A short trip from a car into accommodation can suit a hand-carried bag. A long walk through a large station may make wheels or a proper backpack harness more attractive.
A soft bag can be forgiving around awkwardly shaped clothing bundles, but that flexibility does not automatically protect a laptop or keep a shirt flat. Add only the organization needed for your actual contents. A structured suitcase may be easier for a wardrobe arranged in layers, while a broad duffel opening can make a few bulky items simple to load.
The bag’s full weight changes the answer. Hand-carry your trial load for longer than the walk from one room to another. If you repeatedly switch hands or want to put it down, consider how often the same situation will occur during the journey.
For flights, compare the packed external dimensions and the allowance on your booking regardless of format. A product called a weekender or travel bag is not a separate baggage category. Choose the handling and opening that fit the route, then choose the size.
