The Black Hole Pack 25L is a daypack within a family that also includes travel luggage. That distinction matters: choose it for the computer, water, clothing layer and daily objects you want with you after arriving. The MLC models solve a different problem when organized clothing storage and convertible handling take priority.
Storage for objects you repeatedly retrieve
The main compartment contains a padded sleeve for most fifteen-inch laptops and a zipped mesh pocket. A large front stash pocket and a smaller top pocket create separate places for the items you use most often. A practical setup puts keys and small accessories together, leaving the larger front pocket for something that would otherwise obstruct the main opening.
A shell for ordinary exposure
Patagonia uses recycled polyester ripstop with a weather-resistant TPU-film laminate on the current 49298 style. That construction is relevant to travel through changing weather, but it is not an immersion specification. Think about where wet belongings will go and protect sensitive equipment according to the exposure expected on the itinerary.
The airmesh back panel, padded shoulder straps and sternum strap support the daily-carry role. Two stretch-woven side pockets provide bottle or guidebook storage, and a front daisy chain offers attachment points. External gear changes how the bag moves around you; a tidy load is easier to handle in busy transport than a collection of swinging accessories.
Use the roller connection when the journey grows
A handle on the back panel doubles as a luggage pass-through, so the backpack can accompany a suitcase without staying on your shoulders throughout every queue. The current dimensions are 18.8×11×5.9 inches and empty weight 640g. Use those figures to assess the actual space available, then load the essentials you need until arrival. If that load already fills the bag, move overnight clothing to separate luggage instead of expecting a daypack to absorb it invisibly.
