On the BAGSMART Blast Pro, 28L and 38L describe two configurations of one backpack. They are not automatically two different products. That resolves a common shopping puzzle, but creates a more useful question: will the bag work for your trip before you open the expansion zipper?
Find the family name beside the number
The current Blast Pro page describes a 28L starting configuration that expands to 38L. BAGSMART also sells other named backpacks, including Paz models with their own capacities. A 28L Paz and a Blast Pro collapsed to 28L are separate designs, even though a search result may place them together.
Look for the full product name and the diagram explaining expansion. If a retail title does not identify the family, do not assign Blast Pro specifications to it because the color or silhouette looks similar. Product photos can help establish whether the opening, pockets and expansion zipper correspond.
Expansion is mostly a depth decision
BAGSMART lists the Blast Pro at 31 × 20.5 × 42 cm in its normal configuration and 31 × 25 × 42 cm expanded. In that presentation, the 42 cm side is the height. Opening the expansion adds depth while retaining the same stated height and width.
That extra depth has consequences beyond volume. A thicker packed bag sits farther behind you in queues and can occupy more space beneath a seat. A bag that meets a particular limit when compressed may exceed it when expanded, so measure the configuration in which you intend to travel.
Use the small configuration for the outbound packing plan
Pack the essentials with the expansion closed. This reveals whether your normal load actually belongs in the bag. If closing it requires forcing a zipper around rigid toiletries or a shoe, rearrange the contents or choose a different load rather than relying on the zipper to compress everything.
Keep the expansion available for a specific change: a garment purchased during the trip, an extra layer carried between climates or a less compact return packing arrangement. It is less helpful when filled at the start with objects you already considered optional. Reserve space deliberately instead of merely owning an expandable bag.
A shoe compartment consumes real room
Blast Pro includes a separate shoe area and an adjustable divider. Those features can simplify separation, but they do not create independent space outside the backpack's total outline. A pair of shoes placed in its compartment still displaces clothing or other belongings.
If you carry large trainers, try their shape in the planned packing layout first. Put soft garments around irregular spaces, and keep wet or dirty soles contained appropriately. The useful question is whether separation makes unpacking easier enough to justify the room devoted to footwear.
When the 38L configuration earns its place
Expansion makes sense when your normal equipment fits the smaller state and a predictable minority of journeys needs more clothing. It is less persuasive if every trip begins fully expanded and the bag remains too crowded. In that case, a bag designed around your routine load may offer a more comfortable arrangement.
Compare the exact Amazon option with the Blast Pro model discussed here before purchasing. The retailer catalog contains multiple BAGSMART travel and laptop backpacks, and a generic brand title does not verify the Pro's expansion system. Choose the layout first; use the capacity numbers to understand its operating range.
